Better to have loved
Ира Коломойцева
I agree with Alfred Tennyson and I’m struck by how he expressed a huge number of emotions and thoughts in just one short sentence.
I
think when you love somebody you really live. Your soul is full of different
feelings, such as love, tenderness, joy, passion, etc. You know that there is a
person who understands you, who you can trust, who has free access to your own
world and you can let him “enter” it without fear that he’ll hurt you. You
fell that you are needed.
When
you love you see the world around you with just other eyes. You are strong,
energetic, you are in a good mood. You are friendly and ready to help other
people. All your problems don’t seem so serious as before and you easily cope
with them. Sometimes it happens that the situation seems insoluble and you ask
yourself for what to live. And all of a sudden a precious face comes to your
mind and your soul and heart warm; strength to go on appears at once. This face
is just like a shaft of light that makes your life happy again.
When
you are outside, nature seems to be alive. You look at trees, grass, sky,
clouds, sun, as if you see them for the first time. You are amazed at all this
beauty! When you listen to the rain falling down the leaves, it appears that the
rain whispers you something…
“’Tis
better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all…” In my
opinion, you live when you love, but our lives are too short, and if a person
can say “I’ve loved”, he or she can say with confidence “I’ve
lived”.
